To me the solution to poverty has a simple formula. If people enjoy health, education and peace, then it is only natural that an upward spiral of opportunity comes into existence. If given the chance then I am convinced that everyday people can do extraordinary things. I can see it, imagine it and feel with all my heart that it is true. But doe this mean it is absolute truth?
There are many people who base their whole lives and belief systems on books written by other people. For many of these people they will never waiver from these beliefs no matter what evidence to the contrary presents itself to them. Worse still they will criticise beliefs which contradict those of what they read in their books, again without knowledge or research of the other persons belief. How can their truth be absolute truth when their capacity to think for themselves has effectively shutdown? |

Reliable sources suggest that it is apparent that fascistic "pseudo-Christian" cult group(s), and not apparent Muslim scapegoats, were responsible for the 9-11 attack on the World Trade Center.
America is popularly acknowledged as the world's only Superpower, with by far the world's best intelligence capability. That is further supported by a vast network of corresponding intelligence, and police investigative capability including INTERPOL, from its allies. |

Just like the dark ages, women and children are once again treated as properties and chattels--and the goods must be kept moving. Women and children are victims of unspeakable abuse, gender discrimination, violence, torture and the worst form of labor called trafficking. By the way, many of them have died, and no one has been made accountable.
What is trafficking? Trafficking is procuring women and children (but it is more for their exploitation rather than their movement), to join activities ranging from what seems to be harmless ones--such as employment, training, cultural exchange, sports, marriage (with the trafficker posing as the bridegroom), and child adoption--to more serious cases of white slavery and abduction, within or across national borders, almost always leading to sexual exploitation. It is for this reason why trafficking is often linked to prostitution.
Child trafficking for purposes of using children in armed conflict; as couriers of drugs; for child labor; for recruitment into criminal gangs; and for sale of organs will be dealt with in Session 24 right after this plenary. |

This year world military spending will be in excess of a staggering US$956 Billion(1). Although massive, it is important to note that the actual spending will be significantly higher, but for the purpose of this exercise we will approximate global military spending at 1 Trillion US Dollars. Half of this expenditure is from just one country, the U.S.A.
Just imagine for a moment if the world halved its military spending and channeled the monies into areas contributing to the development of human kind and not the destruction of it. How can this be done you say? Wouldn't currently well defended countries, be then open to attack from other nations? |

We hear a lot of noise about Genetically Modified Food and Crops these days. Some people say it's good, some say it's bad. But wouldn't GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) food be just like any other technology and have the potential for both good and bad, with the determining factor on how it progresses being human influence and the direction we steer it?
It is important to note, that this is bigger than many issues being debated this day. We are talking about the current and future food supplies for the world, as well as other worlds when we inhabit outer space. We are what we eat as they say, so this debates needs to go on. |

Is advertising overstepping the boundary if campaigns involve paid actors who come directly into your social setting, start a conversation which subtly informs you about a certain product, and then leave without ever telling you they were in fact a stealth advertisement on legs?
Advertisers have realised for some time that consumers are becoming increasingly immune to mass marketing by way of the traditional media. Recent studies estimate that on average we block up to 90% of the mass media messages, which isn’t exactly good news for advertisers whose job it is to acquire our attention.
Once again in a bid to keep one step ahead, our advertising friends are reveling in the success of the latest and greatest marketing technique- Roaching. |
