Don't you think that Triple Bottom Line reporting should become mandatory for all major corporations?

If corporations were required to care about social and environmental issues in addition to their financial bottom line, how much of a better world this would be.

It would be a much friendlier place if people were less, increase in profits _base_d and more about sustainability.

I find it sad that there is more than enough of everything for everyone but social structures have taken away even the most basic of rights for so many millions of people.

Just doesn't seem right does it!

Maybe this is a step in the right direction.

I agree with the premise, but have problems with the idea of making the reporting "mandatory", first because I don't think it will work, and second because I have an aversion to adding _layer_s of bureaucracy to small business. Instead, consumers and investors have to make their buying choices _base_d on the "triple" in order for most businesses to get motivated.

Remember that business evolves to provide what consumers want.
That's how they stay in business.

I'm a small business owner, and am very attuned to what my customers want, which gives me one more reason -- beyond personal philosophy -- to look beyond the dollars and cents bottom line.

It sure is crazy the bureaucracy that exists for the little guy. Excellent point Lunkenhammer.

I believe that there sure be a clear distinction between small businesses and large businesses. There should be less bureaucracy for small business and more scrutiny of large business. Whether it be triple bottom line or something else which holds big businesses accountable to the community @ large and not just shareholders. Greed has gotten out of control and all but a few is paying for it. It's time for something to change.
